Bandai's next prepainted, snap-together Trek ship kit is the NCC-1701-A. But you're not locked down with just the USS Enterprise, of course; this Constitution-class ship comes with decals for thirteen different Federation ships: Intrepid, Constellation, Republic, Yorktown, Defiant, Lexington, Constitution, Hood, Excalibur, Exeter, Potemkin, Farragut, and Eagle! You can be sure that Bandai's exceptional quality will shine through in the latest of their Star Trek lineup! Of course this kit features snap assembly and is fully-painted; no cement or paint are required, though you'll need to apply the water-slide decals yourself for the ship designations. The quality of this kit naturally equals that of Bandai's first Enterprise kit, with unbelievably sharp, fine detail and markings. Just like the previous releases, this one features a nifty illumination system, which places six bulbs within plastic panels throughout the interior of the kit, to light the windows in the saucer, the engine nacelles, the impulse engines and the deflector array. The illumination system is driven by three AA (UM-3) batteries (not included) that hide in the Star Trek emblem-shaped stand. Running the wires and securing them to contacts is probably the trickiest part of the whole assembly job; the instructions are well-illustrated, though, which makes the wiring a bit easier. You can display the ship on the display stand, or remove it at any time for hanging or other display; parts are included to plug the joint to the stand on the bottom of the hull. Fabulous!
